Christoph Friedrich von Ammon, 1766–1850
Christoph Friedrich von Ammon was a German theologian, prolific writer, and many-sided man. From 1794 to 1804 he held a professorship at Göttingen and additionally served as university preacher and director of the theological seminary. He later taught and preached in Dresden and became an influential official in church and state. Although for a time he held a more traditionally supernaturalist stance during the middle of his life, his early and later views remained decidedly rationalistic.
