Freiherr von Christian Wolff, 1679 - 1754

Freiherr von Christian Wolff was a philosopher, mathematician, and scientist who worked in many subjects but is best known as the German spokesman of the Enlightenment, the eighteenth-century philosophical movement characterized by Rationalism.  His philosophical system drew upon the ideas of Leibniz and Descartes and was an important force in the development of German philosophical thought, such as that of Immanuel Kant.
